Not your typical ‘deer camp’.
We know that ‘deer camp’ is so much more than the
stereotypical neanderthal mindset. We
understand that ‘deer camp’ is a not just a place to hunt but a place to Relax
Up North. Bring your friends, bring your
family, maybe even your significant other; we are sure you will leave with
memories to last a lifetime.
Make use of our 125-foot driveway, bring your ATV,
and your deer hunting equipment to find your place in the woods. We are located just minutes from the Ambrose
Lake trail head. No need to trailer your ATV simply mind the 20mph rule and you
can drive there in just a few minutes (only 2.4 miles). From there you can access the more than
abundant State-owned public access land.
After a long (hopefully successful) day in the
woods get a nice warm shower in one of our two full bathrooms then kick back at
the firepit to Relax Up North. Ready to
call it a night and move inside – we have several card games and board games to
help you keep the evening going.
Michigan
DNR Deer Management Unit knows where to go to Relax Up North.
Ogemaw County Deer Management Unit is in the
Northern Lower Peninsula Region (NLP). It has roughly 99,000 acres of public
land which is about 27% of the total acreage in the county. The remainder of
land is in private ownership. Topography varies from rolling hills to flat
outwash plains. Soil types consist mainly of sandy types that are well drained.
The landscape consists of large blocks of state and federal land. The state
land is concentrated in the northwest part of the County while the federal
land is primarily in the north central and northeast regions. Those large
blocks are dominated by forest land and provide excellent habitat for deer. Much
of the state-owned land is located on sandy outwash plains in the northwest
portion of the county and is dominated by jack pine forests. The private
land consists of residential developments and agricultural land amongst
forested habitats. The agricultural lands are concentrated in the southwest,
southeast and central portions of the county. Many small inland lakes are
scattered throughout the DMU which see heavy recreational use.
